This person in the photo is not in focus, the trees behind are which means your attention is drawn to them. The background does not compliment the picture a great deal and the frame as a whole doesn't work very well. The picture looks fairly dull in terms of lighting.

This photograph is much more aesthetically pleasing. The whole frame works well as the person is looking at the camera with her head turned slightly, smiling also which directly draws attention to her rather than the surroundings. I brightened up this picture and increased the contrast on photoshop to give it an all round better look. I also like the contrast between the turquiose jumper and the green trees behind.

Depth of Field

Here the hand is in focus while the person behind is slightly blurred. The contrast between the light coloured hand and the background makes this picture interesting.

Again we can see how the seagul in front is in focus while the one behind is not.

This shows the reef is in focus while the heart behind is blurred creating a depth of field.

Here the back ground is in focus creating depth.

This shows just the tap in focus making the picture look interesting.

While this picture appears to have less depth.
